 We love these two have found friendship in each other.... Have you ever had one moment in time change your life forever? This is what happened to these two: TJ and River (photo left to right). TJ spent his entire life an athlete, giving incredible long distance rides for his people. Until one day one swift kick to the leg from another horse- OVER! River spent his entire life loved by humans. Until one day, when his owner fell ill, he ended up at an auction where a kill buyer bought him. His loving life as he knew it- OVER! When their life purposes were extinguished on those fateful days it left them feeling lost and alone. Their stories are different, yet, the feelings of fear are the same. And like many people, these two are still very tied to those feelings. Much of what they experience today is still being put through the same resonance of fear even though their environment has changed. There is a part of us that want to fix them, put the bandaids on, cover up the pain, make them all better. Then we take a step back and look at the entire picture and see they already are perfect. Following this simple Truth allows them to just Be. Just Be who they are right here, right now. We love and honor them. And this is where their sweet, quirky friendship began here at The Farm Way.  Did you know the energy of the Iris flower is like a wonderful detox, cleansing your system of old emotions and negativity? You’ll feel great just being near them. Your entire body will be recharged and you will beam with vitality. And if you ask Iris, she’ll tell you this describes her to a T. Come spend a day with Iris and The Irises and be reguvinated. And nudged, maybe a little muddied up, or possibly knocked over ;)
We do lovingly call her “the wrecking ball” because she has the perfect ability to sense when we need an extra nudge to knock us right back into our hearts AND, of course, clear out anything that may be in her way! Yet, she is as sweet and loving as she was when she fit in the palm of our hands. We understand she was born into this world as a farm pig with a very different fate (her crossbreed is considered the “Kobe” of pork). But things can change. And we are grateful they did!!!! This could be a start to an incredibly salubrious relationship for the two and just as much for all of The Farm Way horses. You see, Remi is our leading man and he needs a leading lady. This is a big role for Venus for several reasons. But mainly because she spent most of her life as an only horse and one day found herself in the hands of a kill buyer. As fate goes, our awesome friends with The Hooved Companion Project saved her. Venus has been at The Farm Way for nearly two years now. She has a beautiful mission with a momentous message of Love. She has asked us to give her time to quite literally find her own footing here amongst so many others. We get this. Who hasn’t felt overwhelmed and just needs some time! A little side story- the other day Remi was trying to get Venus to stand with him head to tail to keep flies away. Venus kept walking around him and then stopped at his tail. He was his usual gentleman and kept the flies off of her. Venus, we know you’ll get this girl! You have so many rooting for you!!!! FairchildIn the fall of 2011, Mike and I moved to a small farm in Central Illinois where we immediately found ourselves rescuing horses. The rescue was not part of our original plan, but we felt the calling while doing a search for a pair of ponies we did plan on caring for on the farm. Since childhood, my entire extended family and I have been horse owners. Mike and I wanted to continue this tradition.
