We Listen to Nature and the Animals that surround Us and We Trust
First and foremost, we are a safe haven for horses (and other animals) that need help. In return, we reap the intrinsic spirit of the animals, through their loving disposition, as they minister to the mind, body, and spirit of mankind.
The idea of The Farm Way actually started in the hearts of two young children spending summers on their grandparents’ farms riding ponies. The youngsters didn't know each other back then; in fact we didn't meet until many, many years later. When we did finally meet, we shared our hearts and our dreams. We were both living in the city of Chicago but we weren’t ‘city people’. We believed finding a place in the country was our way to happiness. So we set out to find a home where we could spend a lot of time in nature, grow our own food, and expand on our love of animals. Nicole grew up on horses. Mike grew up wanting to be a Veterinarian. She rode and won horse shows all over the Midwest. He worked with dogs, cats and animals of all types at Vet Clinics. Nicole grew up admiring her Grandpa Jacobs' way with horses, especially the forgotten ones. She went to college. He went to college. Nicole traveled the world with her event planning career. Mike started writing songs and traveled the world with his band. Their paths led them here finally- to The Farm Way. We call it The Farm Way - it’s simply, living... or rather living simply. We grow and eat healthy food. We take our cues from nature and the animals that surround us- we listen, we trust and we take guided action. Our guests easily step into The Farm's peaceful Way and are amazed by the harmonious relationships of all the animals that reside on The Farm. In addition to our rescue equine, we have several other species of friends sharing our home. Their respect and trust in each other and in us has proven that with patience, persistence and a whole lot of love all things are possible. Mike Himebaugh and Nicole Fairchild - Founders |
