Meet Our Board of Directors............
Himebaugh and Fairchild, our Founders
with Hero, one of our Ambassadors |
Nicole Fairchild is the Co-Founder and President of The Farm Way Sanctuary. Nicole grew up working horses on her grandfather’s horse farm where his heart’s passions lead him to housing hundreds of horses. She went to college and pursued a career in event planning. Her lifelong love for horses compelled her, with the support of her co-founder, Mike, to begin this mission in 2014. Together they are building a safe haven to help alleviate the suffering of horses throughout western Illinois and beyond. Daily, Nicole is involved in every aspect of the operation of The Farm Way Sanctuary, from horse care to training, from fund-raising to bookkeeping. She manages the volunteers and formulates the medical, nutritional, rehabilitation and training plan for every horse that comes through the gates. Nicole uses her 10 years of corporate event planning experience to organize fundraising events. She co-created and co-manages the website and Facebook page with Mike, thereby promoting The Farm Way Sanctuary’s mission and finding carefully-screened adoptive homes for the horses. As a hopeful advocate for the well-being of neglected, abused and abandoned horses, Nicole has dedicated her life to this mission of love with Mike. Mike Himebaugh, a nationally known singer/song writer, is the Co-Founder and Vice President of The Farm Way Sanctuary. Mike went to college to pursue a veterinarian career, prior to following his music passion. Mike and his co-founder, Nicole, discovered a huge need for horse rescue in Illinois after adopting two rescue horses of their own. They soon found that animals face an uncertain future because so many rescues are at capacity and are only willing to take in the severely incapacitated ones. This leaves an unspeakable number of animals yearly homeless and often sent to auction. Underweight and untrained, these animals are undesired by most people capable of providing good homes and instead are often purchased by killer-buyers. Nicole and Mike co-founded The Farm Way Sanctuary in 2014 to save horses from this terrible dilemma. Daily, Mike is involved in every aspect of the operation of The Farm Way Sanctuary, from horse care to training, from fund-raising to bookkeeping. He works directly with Nicole on every horse that comes through the gates. His years spent as a vet technician helps tremendously with the evaluation process of each new rescue horse. Mike has been the muscle of the sanctuary, building nearly every pasture enclosure on the farm and currently maintains all property and equipment. As a tireless advocate for the well-being of neglected, abused and abandoned horses, Mike has dedicated his life to this mission of love with Nicole. |
